My name is Amelia, and I founded Happy Paws Adoption. It started when my mom told me that it was time to "find new homes" for some of my 100+ stuffed animals (what was she thinking??) As I was sorting through them, I had an idea: what if I could offer my stuffies as pets for my friends to adopt?

The idea snowballed from there. My friends were thrilled to "adopt" new pets for free. It made me think of shelter pets who need loving homes even though they're "used"! I volunteer with Bunanza Rabbit Rescue and I looooove rabbits (well, all animals really). The idea came to me that maybe I could both give away my old stuffies AND raise money to support Bunanza and other shelters. I also wondered if there were other kids out there who would like to adopt a stuffed pet who maybe couldn't afford brand new stuffed animals. 

 

And so, the idea of Happy Paws Adoptions was born. A place where kids can adopt a cuddly friend for free if they want; grownups can support local animal shelters while they provide "pets" for their kids that they don't have to feed; and I'm able to give a little bit of money back the animal rescues that I love.

Someday, I'm pretty sure that I'll be a part of the animal rescue community. For now, this is what I can do. Thank you for partnering with me to take care of abandoned and abused animals in our community!
